We’re looking for our first data scientist: someone who cares deeply about our mission, has deep experience as an ML practitioner in industry and who loves to “figure it out” when faced with an unfamiliar problem. You’ll be the first person to explore the largest dataset in the world on the vaginal microbiome and its related health outcomes. If shaping this discovery is exciting to you, let’s create a new future in women’s health together.

More specifically, we’re looking for someone who’s ready to dive into the following three areas:

1) R&D

  • You will run exploratory analyses in order to understand how the vaginal microbiome is related to women’s health symptoms, diagnoses, and outcomes
  • You will develop multimodal models that integrate microbial, phenotypic and behavioral data to predict health outcomes
  • You prefer applied research to basic research, bringing an intuition for how the results of your work can drive product development

2) User-Facing Recommendations

  • You will work closely with our CEO to develop new and improved personalized recommendations based on health history and microbial results
  • Familiarity with unsupervised learning techniques would be helpful for this

3) Infrastructure

  • You’re up-to-date on a modern cloud stack and understand how to leverage it to make your analyses and experiments faster and more accurate
  • You will be able to deploy ML models and set up inference pipelines (in partnership with a full-stack engineer)
  • Bonus: You’ve stood up ETL processes to facilitate analytics by both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • 3 + years industry experience as a data scientist / machine learning practitioner
  • Fluency in python
  • Mastery of the python data analysis & classical ML stack (pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib/plotly, etc.)
  • Familiarity with a modern deep learning framework (Pytorch or TensorFlow/Keras preferred)
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience working on production ML systems & adhering to software engineering best-practices
  • Not only comfortable with ambiguity, but prefer it. You thrive in the 0 to 1 stage.
  • Experience time-boxing research initiatives and knowing when to dive deep and when to move on
  • At Evvy, one of our values is “Figure it out.” You don’t need to be familiar with every single thing listed on this posting, but you should be willing to learn whatever it takes to get the job done

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience setting up cloud analytics infrastructure
  • Experience working with biomedical data
  • Experience with common BI tools like Segment, Looker, Tableau etc.

Benefits
Competitive compensation (including equity) and benefits.
